... why you want/need another prot warrior. I believe you already have one, and from what I read on EJ, DK/druids are the way to go for Hard Modes.
I was thinking maybe for more depth in the raid roster due to summer/burnoyt/etc.

This is why you don't blindly read any silly thing some idiot posts on an EJ forum.
There are a lot of very good reasons for a Prot Warrior in a raid group even on hard modes. The whole, "Druids and DKs are so much better thing" is becoming much less of a distinction and really only was a significant one at the very beginning of WotLK with DK's. I guess that generaliztion still is now in the case of warriors who have no idea what they are doing. Just because you slapped together a set of off-spec tank gear in Naxx doesn't mean you can tank but many Warriors seemed to have not gotten the memo. It isn't the most user-friendly class to play by any means and a very easy one to suck at, leading to the general impression that DK's and Druids are so much better. A properly geared Warrior that knows what he is doing can be just as effective as the other classes except for a longer "Shield Wall" cooldown than the DK.
As far as usefulness in a raid setting via hard modes, a Prot Warrior frees up Fury/Arms warriors to not have to sunder. It is also an extra Shattering Throw to cycle through the rotation especially in the situation of extreme DPS races (Mimiron hard mode etc). For max survivability, you could spec into 5/5 Improved Demo Shout and 5/5 Commanding Presence.
Most importantly, especially for hard modes, a Warrior is able to single-handedly control the threat of his raid group. Vigilance (glyphed especially) and intervenes provide a huge benefit on situations like Hodir and General where you are seeing the 10-13k DPS from mages and the like. Properly used Vigilance and Intervenes at appropriate times can allow those DPS to continue blasting away and not have to stop DPS or drop threat every 10 GCDs.
There's more but you're probably better off at wowinsider.com for your information anyway.
Simply put, don't blindly follow EJ forums, half of the stuff on there is garbage these days.
