As far as video cards go, I've used both NVIDIA and ATI cards and I like both. My problem with the current NVIDIA cards is their size. A GTX 460 is huge and can fuck up your airflow badly. Not to mention it's a little underpowered for it's size. A GTX480 is worth how massive it is but I wouldn't use it in anything but a full tower case.

I use two of these in CrossfireX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127490
They are great cards; made very well and great overclockers. Plus they fit in my Antec 900 ATX Mid Tower case without causing problems.

You could also go with something like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127500 and pick up another later on if you find you need more video processing power.

Hard drive: Pick up pretty much anything with good reviews unless you want to spend some money on an SSD then I can give some suggestions.

DVD drive: Anything that people are shitting on.

Sound card: You really don't need one with a good mother board.

Will I need that much power? That seems a bit overkill.

Yes, you will need that much power. Anything less than 750w for newer model motherboards and video cards is asking for trouble.

Your motherboard alone will consume 200-300 watts. The same goes for any newer model GPU.

Asking for trouble = burning stuff. Go for a very good power supply.

Also, after reading the thread I would recommend 8GB of ram. Don't know if you guys had this experience already, but when I jumped from 4 to 8 GB there was a HUGE difference in load times. WoW itself consumes 4 to 5 GB and I can only wonder how much it will be in cata.

As for ATi or nVidia I like ATi as it doesn't build monolithic monstrous cards that you could fry an egg on it. As a result I had less need of fans and heat dissipation. Not to mention the card's fan never looked as it was ready to take off.

Using a Mac now with HD 4850 is good, but I can feel the need for a bit extra power. Granted the 27" 2560x1440 resolution eats the card, but 5850 should be more than enough.

Video Card - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814102886
Power Supply - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817139006

Looks pretty solid and comes in taxes and shipping at $1,358.76. Not too bad.

Change the case you had in your original post, apparently a friend of mine bought that exact one and said it was falling apart and shit.

Thermaltake and Coolermaster make great products and I've personally used both and have no complaints.

e: anything Mid-Tower+ is fine.

^^

And once again, the bigger the monster the less noise it will make. I don't know about you, but I hate to have a Mig at my desk. Silence is bless.

Thoughts? It seems pretty solid to me and also has tooless installation.
